The 1887 Garolla, a historic crusher now kept in the Carus Vini barrel cellar

The Carus Vini barrel cellar houses the Garolla crusher, a historic piece of machinery, now a work of art, manufactured at the end of the nineteenth century. Invented in 1887 by Giuseppe Garolla, it revolutionized the way wine was produced. The crusher-destemmer-centrifuge allowed the berries to be removed from the bunches and crushed with extreme efficiency for the time.
